Video: All The Ways We Could Grow | Free Word
“I started to realise that there was a power in holding our hands up and saying I don’t understand.”

Performer, writer and theatre-maker Travis Alabanza delivered an unforgettable performance lecture on the fight for freedom for those on the margins, linking explorations within the All The Ways We Could Grow Season to trans liberation. The talk took place in Free Word’s main space turned teenage fantasy bedroom installation – created by Travis and collaborator Denny Kaulbach – which the Season takes its name from. Watch below for excerpts of Travis’ intimate talk.

“My growth is tied up to your growth”

“Walking outside as trans is a political act that is invested in us all”

“We all have a complicated relationship with our gender”

“What would it look like to be more than this?”
